Please contact the Churchwardens, Benefice Churchwardens for further details.

The Choir
The choir sings at the main service on each Sunday and at major services through the year. Practice is on Thursday evenings at 8:00 followed by refreshments at a nearby establishment. The choir sings at weddings and occasionally a concert is put on.

Bell Ringers
The campanologists of Burghclere ring for Sunday services and weddings and other special requests. Our normal ringing time is on a Sunday 9.00 am - 9.30 am. We practice regularly on a Wednesday from 7.30 pm - 9.00 pm. Occasionally we might ring a quarter peal to celebrate a particular marriage and on very important occasions a full peal may be rung. If you would like to know any more information please contact the Tower secretary, Miggie Bruce or Ros Brandwood for more details.

Church Flowers
A small but enthusiastic band of casual flower arrangers run a Rota throughout the year to keep the Church decorated weekly.
The pulpit at Harvest. All come together for the Christian Festivals when we decorate the whole of the Church, mostly with flowers from our gardens or the hedgerows.
If you would like to come and join us you would be very welcome. No experience or participation necessary on a Sunday! Perhaps you may like to arrange on a special week of the year in memory of a loved one.
Florists are often used for special occasions. We can help with some of the mechanics by providing pedestals, window brackets, window boards and pew end hangers. We do ask that after such an occasion, at least one pedestal arrangement is left for the Church users to enjoy.

GOOD NEIGHBOURS SUPPORT SERVICE (GNSS)

BACKGROUND
The Good Neighbours Network is comprised of independent volunteer led & run groups that offer medical and social transport, shopping, prescription delivery, social groups, befriending and other activities across Hampshire.
Each group is based within their local community and can respond to what their community needs. Some of these groups have been in existence for over 45 years.
The Good Neighbours Network is a partnership of Anglican dioceses across Hampshire - Winchester, Portsmouth and Guildford - that formed in the 1970s with the advent of care in the community. There were six groups in 1976 and the network has now grown to over 120 groups across the whole of Hampshire.

LOCAL POSITION
The Burghclere & Newtown Group was launched in 1996 and in the intervening years has provided thousands of lifts to doctors, hospitals, opticians and dentists; 133 trips were undertaken in the last year.
This is a service that is recognised and valued in the community. However, the number of volunteers has dwindled and volunteers have aged. To avoid the organisation declining until it can no longer fulfil its goals, new volunteers are urgently needed - not only car drivers but people willing to take on officer and coordinator roles in order to carry the organisation forward.
There is plenty of help available to assist with setting up and administering the group - see Good Neighbours Network.
Is this something you could do to contribute to the wellbeing of your local community?
Please contact Briony Canning (01635 278485) if you would like to chat this through.
