Today there continues to be families in West Berkshire and North Hampshire struggling to put food on the table.
For people on low incomes, a sudden crisis: redundancy, benefit delay or even an unexpected bill and now the
fallout from huge increases in energy costs – can mean going hungry. Every day parents skip meals to feed
their children and people are forced to choose between paying the rent and eating.
West Berks Foodbank provides emergency food and support to local people in crisis, helping to prevent family
breakdown, housing loss, crime and mental health problems.
The current urgent needs and low on stock are:
Adult & Children Toothbrushes
Baby Food 4-6 Months/12 Months
Cooked Meat with Ring Pulls
Long Life
Juice and UHT Milk
Mug Shots
Nappies Size 5/6/7/8
Non-Bio Laundry
Tablets and Toilet Cleaner
To contribute either leave your gifts
during the day in Burghclere Church or Newtown Church or Ecchinswell Church at a Sunday service.
How this works
Step 1: Non-perishable food is donated by the public
Step 2: Volunteers sort and pack food into emergency food boxes.
Step 3: Front-line care professionals such as doctors and social workers give foodbank vouchers to people in
crisis.
Step 4: Foodbank vouchers are exchange for 3 days of food at a foodbank.
Step 5: Foodbank personnel take time to listen and signpost clients to further support.
What can we do?
